About our panellists
Stephanie Manahan was CEO of CRC transforming the organisation in terms of impact and governance over an 8-year period, before taking up the mantle as CEO at Pieta. Pieta, the National Charity for Suicide and Self Harm, has undergone seismic change since its foundation in 2006 with the organisation now more than 6 times the size it was 10 years ago; in terms of income, size, scale and impact, responding to more than 100,000 crisis calls, and delivering over 50,000 hours of free counselling in 2022 across more than 20 locations.
Stephanie has considerable experience in health care with a career of over 35 years spanning Acute, Community, Mental Health, Disability, and Not for Profit settings. She holds a BSc from Trinity College Dublin, an MSc from the University of London and a professional Diploma in Corporate Governance from UCD Smurfit business School. A known leader on governance and quality leadership Stephanie has sat on the Consultative Panel on the Governance of Charitable Organisations and led the CRC to several awards. Stephanie holds a non- Executive Director role with CORU the state Board regulating Health and Social Care professions, is currently training in executive coaching with the IMI and has engaged with being a mentor for the HSE Women in Leadership initiative and the IMI/30% Club mentorship programme.
Pauline McKeown is CEO of Coolmine TC, and previously served as Head of Services. She is with the organisation for more than 16 years and has vast experience of working in social services organisations across the UK and Ireland. Pauline was invited to provide vital information at the recent Citizen’s Assembly on drugs, and as Ireland has seen rising problematic drug use, Coolmine has had to respond accordingly. The organisation has grown from 60 people to 200 people, from 5 to 14 services that are geographically spread, from 3 million annually to more than 8 million annually. This rapid scale of expansion has required significant leadership and risk management skills to ensure quality service delivery and maintenance of a positive culture.
Adam Harris set up AsIAm based on his own experiences growing up as a young autistic person in Ireland. Diagnosed with Asperger’s Syndrome from an early age, the condition was far less understood or even known as it is today. Having spent his initial school years within the special education stream, he moved to a mainstream school in Second Class and was supported by an SNA. Adam is the Founder and CEO of AsIAm, Ireland’s National Autism Charity. Adam founded the organisation based on his own experiences growing up on the autism spectrum.
Today, AsIAm provides support to the autism people and their families, advocates on behalf of the community, and works to support public and private sector organisations and communities in becoming inclusive and accessible. A Social Entrepreneurs Ireland Awardee, Adam is a frequent contributor to media and conferences in Ireland and overseas. He has also sat and advised on many government’ consultative and policy committees on disability rights and inclusion. From Greystones in Co Wicklow, Adam was appointed to the Irish Human Rights and Equality Commission in July 2020.
